Six Flags Great Adventure has unveiled Shoreline Pier at The Boardwalk, a massive new expansion inspired by the neon-lit nostalgia of the iconic New Jersey Shore.

Set to open in late spring 2026, Shoreline Pier represents a major investment in the park’s Boardwalk area, blending classic seaside charm with modern thrills.

This latest announcement serves as a further step forward in the park’s multi-year growth strategy, which includes a highly anticipated new roller coaster currently slated for 2027.

Five Attractions Coming to the Pier

Shoreline Pier will feature five rides, four of which are brand-new additions to the Great Adventure lineup, having previously operated at the now defunct Six Flags America. The selection focuses on family-friendly thrills that mimic the kinetic energy of a midnight stroll in Wildwood or Seaside Heights.

  • Barrels O’ Fun: A spinning family coaster where riders board wooden barrel-style cars that bob and weave like buoys.
  • Flying Scooters: A boardwalk staple that allows guests to control their own flight path using a moveable sail.
  • Wave Swinger: A soaring swing ride that marks the spiritual return of the Flying Wave (a park favorite from 1974–2007).
  • Hypno Twister: A modern, high-intensity spinner featuring four interlocking arms that create sensations of weightlessness.
  • Super Roundup: A nostalgic homecoming for a Great Adventure classic. After a total overhaul, the ride formerly known as Swashbuckler and Fantasy Fling returns to its original name and a new location on the pier.

A Taste of the Garden State

The expansion isn't just about the rides; Six Flags is leaning heavily into New Jersey’s culinary identity. The new area will feature several specialized food concepts:

  • The "Gabagool On-a-Stick": A bold Jersey twist on the corn dog, featuring capicola dipped in batter and drizzled with hot honey.
  • Shore-Style Fries: Fresh-cut fries with "disco" toppings (mozzarella and gravy) or bold dipping sauces like bay ketchup.
  • High-End Funnel Cakes: The new menu includes the Triple Blueberry Roundup (honoring NJ’s state fruit) and the Holey Cannoli, topped with sweet ricotta cream and cannoli shell pieces.
  • Rita’s Italian Ice: A local favorite serving fresh custard and Italian ice on-site.

Boardwalk Nights and Live Entertainment

To capture the boardwalk vibe, Shoreline Pier will be populated by stilt walkers, live musicians, and roaming performance artists.

The park also announced Boardwalk Nights, a limited-time summer event. When the sun sets, the area will transform with high-energy stage shows featuring acrobats and vocalists, complemented by immersive lighting designed to keep the energy high well into the evening.
