Just over a year after the groundbreaking debut of Universal Epic Universe, Universal Orlando Resort has announced its next major expansion: an all-new indoor thrill roller coaster coming to Dark Universe.
Located right beside the award-winning Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, the upcoming attraction will immerse guests in a new storyline inspired by the iconic Universal Monsters franchise. Construction on the project is officially underway, with an opening scheduled for the years ahead.
The addition underscores Universal’s aggressive momentum across its Florida resort, following a massive wave of capital investments and multi-park updates.
A Growing Slate of Resort-Wide Thrills
The new Dark Universe coaster is part of a broad timeline of upcoming guest experiences set to launch across Universal Orlando Resort over the next couple of years:
- Universal Horror Make-Up Show featuring Blumhouse: A reimagined edition of the classic show opening later this year at Universal Studios Florida.
- Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift: A high-speed, outdoor drifting roller coaster debuting in 2027 at Universal Studios Florida.
- Jurassic Park Signature Dining: A new full-service restaurant opening in 2027 inside Jurassic Park at Universal Islands of Adventure.
- Luke Combs’ Category 10: A massive multi-level music and entertainment venue slated to open at Universal CityWalk in late 2027.
Universal noted that further details regarding the Dark Universe coaster’s theme, layout, and official opening date will be released in future announcements.
