Six Flags Over Texas has launched Tormenta Rampaging Run, a colossal new attraction that immediately makes history as the world's tallest, fastest, longest, and first-ever giga dive roller coaster.
The term "giga" refers to any roller coaster that stands between 300 and 399 feet tall. Themed around the raw power and momentum of a legendary bull, this massive signature ride anchors a newly themed Spanish village named Rancho de la Tormenta, located within the park's Spain section.
The grand opening aligns perfectly with the 65th anniversary celebrations at the Arlington-based park, introducing fresh entertainment options, new dining locations, and various property-wide enhancements for the summer season.
Staring Straight Down from 309 Feet
Riders are carried up a steep lift hill to a staggering 309 feet above the ground, offering panoramic views of Arlington, the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and the rest of the amusement park. The true psychological test comes at the summit: the train halts over the precipice for three seconds, forcing passengers to stare straight down the near-vertical drop before the brakes release.
Once dropped, the train accelerates into an intense, twisted layout spanning 4,199 feet of track. The ride delivers an array of weightless airtime moments, sudden drops, and rapid banking maneuvers designed to simulate a wild, rampaging bull run.
Six World Records Broken
Engineered to push structural boundaries, Tormenta Rampaging Run claims six distinct global records:
- Tallest Dive Coaster: Standing at 309 feet, it completely overshadows all other dive coasters on Earth.
- Fastest Dive Coaster: It reaches a blistering maximum speed of 87 mph, a record for this specific model.
- Longest Dive Coaster: The layout stretches across 4,199 feet of steel track.
- Tallest Vertical Loop: A massive loop that climbs 179 feet into the air, making it the highest inversion of its type on any roller coaster.
- Highest Immelmann Inversion: This fighter-jet-inspired maneuver flips riders upside down at an incredible height of 218 feet.
- Highest Beyond-Vertical Drop: The initial plunge features a terrifying 95-degree, beyond-vertical angle dropping riders 285 feet toward the earth.

A New Era of Thrills for Arlington
"Tormenta Rampaging Run forever changes not only the Arlington skyline, but the full lineup of thrills only offered at Six Flags Over Texas," stated Pete Carmichael, Park President. "With the addition of this record-breaking dive coaster, Six Flags Over Texas is a must-visit destination for thrill lovers from all over the world."
The Rancho de la Tormenta Plaza
The ride acts as the center-piece for the new Rancho de la Tormenta plaza. The area is styled as a historic, secluded Spanish village celebrating the annual "Festival Taurino," which honours the local ranch hands. The surrounding streets feature vibrant banners, unique live entertainment, and freshly themed dining areas.
According to park lore, the village was originally named after the severe storms (tormentas) that swept across the plains, but it was later redefined by a legendary local bull. Known for its immense power and speed, the animal became a beloved symbol of the community's resilience.
Celebrating 65 Years of Six Flags History
First opened on 1 August 1961, Six Flags Over Texas is the historic, original park of the global Six Flags brand. Its debut 65 years ago set a brand-new precedent for modern family entertainment complexes. To celebrate this milestone, the park is hosting special seasonal events, giveaways, and historical throwbacks alongside the launch of the new coaster.
Tormenta Rampaging Run is now officially open to the general public. Visitors looking to experience the record-breaker multiple times throughout the 2026 season can make use of the park's Gold Pass, which includes unlimited access to both the main theme park and the adjacent Hurricane Harbor water park.
