The wait for an out-of-this-world adventure is over. On February 27, 2026, LEGOLAND Florida Resort officially launched its Galacticoaster, a new indoor family roller coaster that blends high-speed thrills with digital customization.
As part of the new LEGO Galaxy land, Galacticoaster is making history as the first indoor roller coaster built at LEGOLAND Florida since the park’s opening in 2011. The exciting attraction is the centerpiece of a landmark $94 million (£70 million) investment by Merlin Entertainments, marking their largest single in-park commitment in the United States to date.
And fans on the West Coast won't have to wait long, as the mission continues at LEGOLAND California Resort on March 6.
A Customizable Cosmic Journey Powered by RFID
The most unique feature of Galacticoaster is the level of personalization, which Merlin Entertainments describes as their "most technologically advanced" family coaster experience.
Before boarding, guests use touchscreens and RFID-enabled wristbands to design their own digital LEGO spacecraft across four build phases: Nose, Tail, Wings, and Special Features. With over 625 unique customization options, your specific ship is recognized by the ride's systems and displayed digitally throughout the journey, merging high-tech storytelling with physical coaster thrills.
Ride Stats & "First-of-its-Kind" Features
While Galacticoaster is designed for families, it packs a punch with modern ride tech:
- Speed: Reaches top speeds of up to 40 mph.
- Immersive Tech: Features the world’s first-ever animatronic LEGO Minifigure, bringing a physical character presence to the cosmic environment.
- Theming: The area, known as Spaceport 885, pays homage to 50 years of LEGO space history, with easter eggs for longtime fans of classic sets.
Beyond the Coaster: LEGO Galaxy
The new land offers a full mission-ready experience, including:
- Character Meet & Greets: Snap photos with the LEGO Alien Dancer or the LEGO Space Creature.
- Junior Astronaut Training Zone: A dedicated soft play area for explorers aged 1–4.
- Launch Time Treats: Limited-time bites like the Cookies & Cosmos Sundae and the Supernova Sandwich (crispy chicken with purple sweet Thai chili glaze).
Coast-to-Coast Expansion
The LEGO Galaxy mission is a two-part launch. While Florida guests are already earning their wings, LEGOLAND California Resort is preparing for its grand opening on March 6, 2026.
The momentum for Merlin's parks doesn't stop there. The company also confirmed that LEGOLAND New York will join the excitement later this month with the debut of the LEGO Ferrari Build & Race experience, scheduled to open on March 27.
