Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is preparing to introduce one of its most significant wildlife expansions in over a decade with the announcement of Lion & Hyena Ridge, an expansive new savanna habitat set to open in Spring 2026.
Designed to immerse guests deeper into the natural world of two of Africa’s most iconic predators, the new experience will more than double the size of the park’s existing habitat footprint.
Covering nearly 35,000 square feet, Lion & Hyena Ridge introduces a dramatic reimagining of the African landscape within Busch Gardens. The newly expanded terrain will serve as home to a pride of five young male lions—Pascal, Lou, Henri, Hugo, and Herman—born in 2024, along with two playful hyenas, Cazi and Dazi.
A New Level of Immersion
Guests will be able to explore the habitat through expansive glass viewing areas and shaded walkways, offering stunning 270-degree views across the recreated savanna. From rocky kopje formations to flowing water features and varied terrain, the new environment has been designed to encourage natural animal behaviors and provide dynamic spaces.
A Focus on Animal Care & Education
Lion & Hyena Ridge continues Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s legacy of combining entertainment with meaningful wildlife storytelling. Visitors will learn about the unique personalities and social dynamics of the park’s resident lions and hyenas through engaging educational moments woven into the experience.
Brian Bacica, Park President of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, said:
“We’re thrilled to unveil our newest habitat, the all-new Lion & Hyena Ridge, opening in 2026. This space not only offers our guests a closer look at these incredible species, but also reinforces our commitment to conservation, education, and animal care at the highest standards.”
A Major Addition for 2026
As Busch Gardens continues to evolve its blend of thrilling attractions and world-class animal experiences, Lion & Hyena Ridge stands out as a flagship addition for the 2026 season. With its impressive scale, modern design, and focus on wildlife connection, it promises to be a must-see for both animal lovers and theme park fans alike.
