After a year-long delay, Six Flags New England has officially confirmed that its newest attraction, Quantum Accelerator, will open to the public on Friday, April 17, 2026.
The announcement marks a major milestone for the park, as Quantum Accelerator is its first new roller coaster addition in nine years.
A Long-Awaited Launch
Originally slated for a 2025 debut, the coaster’s opening was pushed back to ensure "operational reliability." Industry analysts noted that similar "straddle-style" models from manufacturer Intamin underwent inspections and modifications across various global parks during the same period.
“Quantum Accelerator brings a new level of excitement to the park and to the region,” said Park Manager Bill Falzone. “We’re proud to add this coaster to our attraction lineup as it represents our park’s commitment to delivering unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment, and lifelong memories.”
What to Expect: The Steampunk Adventure
Located in the Crackaxle Canyon section of the park, Quantum Accelerator is a dual-launch straddle coaster. Rather than traditional seats, riders mount the ride vehicles like a motorbike, leaning forward to grip handlebars.
The ride’s narrative follows the eccentric Professor Screamore, a character who has moved his laboratory to the abandoned Wild West outpost of Crackaxle Canyon. His invention, the Quantum Accelerator, combines steampunk technology with modern machinery to "launch" guests through time.
Quantum Accelerator Key Stats:
- Manufacturer: Intamin
- Top Speed: 45 mph
- Track Length: 2,604 feet
- Features: Two high-energy launches (0-30 mph and a mid-course boost to 45 mph)
- Height Requirement: 48” minimum; 77” maximum
Exclusive Passholder Previews
While the general public can ride starting April 17, coinciding with the start of the park’s Spring Break Days, Six Flags Season Passholders will get the first crack at the new machine. Exclusive Passholder Preview days are scheduled for the weekend of April 11–12.
Beyond the Ride
The debut of the coaster brings several enhancements to the surrounding Crackaxle Canyon area:
- JB’s Smokehouse: Features new menu items, including sirloin steak sandwiches and fresh salads.
- Screamore Gadgets: A new retail outlet for steampunk-themed merchandise.
- Doc Pemberton’s Refresh Station: Upgraded beverage options located directly across from the ride entrance.
The opening of Quantum Accelerator officially brings Six Flags New England’s coaster count back to 12, filling the footprint left by the departure of the Goliath giant inverted boomerang coaster.
