Start your engines! Universal Studios Hollywood has officially pulled back the curtain on the complete ride vehicle fleet for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.

Opening this summer, the park’s first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster will allow park guests to buckle into authentic replicas of the most iconic "10-second cars" in cinema history.

As construction enters its final stages on the Upper Lot, Universal has now revealed that each train will be a "greatest hits" collection of the franchise's most beloved vehicles. These aren't just standard coaster cars; they are high-tech, 360-degree rotating platforms designed to simulate the "drifting" sensation that defined the series.

The Legendary Lineup

Each 16-passenger train will feature four distinct ride vehicles, each meticulously modeled after the hero cars driven by the franchise's lead characters:

  • 1970 Dodge Charger: Dominic Toretto’s signature black muscle car, a 900-horsepower powerhouse that has appeared in nearly every film.
  • 1997 Mazda RX-7: Han Seoul-oh’s legendary orange and black drifter from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
  • 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R: Brian O’Conner’s silver and blue icon, renowned for its street-racing dominance.
  • 1994 Toyota Supra: The famous orange Supra that Brian "owed" Dom in the original 2001 film.

Groundbreaking "Drift" Technology

What sets Hollywood Drift apart from any other coaster in the world is its "drifting" technology. As the train rockets along 4,100 feet of track, traversing the hill between the Upper and Lower Lots, the individual cars will spin and pivot.

This movement is choreographed to the track layout to create a "seamless sensation" of drifting around corners at speeds of up to 72 mph. Universal has also utilized state-of-the-art sound reduction technology to ensure that the "roar" of the engines remains immersive for riders while respecting the park's topography.

An Immersive Garage Experience

The experience begins long before you hit the "NOS" button. The queue is housed within a massive, red-brick, garage-style structure on the Upper Lot.

A highlight of the load station is a giant, freehand spray-painted mural by world-renowned artist Tristan Eaton. The mural depicts the climactic scene from the first film, featuring the aerial-bound Dodge Charger and Toyota Supra racing against a speeding train, a fitting tribute to the franchise’s roots as guests prepare to enter the "family."

Summer 2026: The Race is On

While an exact opening date hasn't been "green-lit" just yet, Universal has confirmed a Summer 2026 debut. The ride marks a massive shift for the park, becoming the fastest coaster in the entire Universal Destinations & Experiences global portfolio.
