Six Flags Great Adventure has celebrated the grand opening of its newest themed area, Shoreline Pier at The Boardwalk.

The official opening was marked with a ceremonial bottle breaking attended by New Jersey Lt. Governor Dr. Dale G. Caldwell, alongside local officials, community leaders, and park representatives.

Inspired by the classic maritime tradition of christening a new vessel before its maiden voyage, theme park leaders shattered a commemorative bottle to formally welcome guests into the area.

The opening marks the completion of a major transformation that reimagines one of the park's most recognisable areas into a vibrant space inspired by the energy, nostalgia, and charm of New Jersey's iconic seaside boardwalks.

A Major Investment in the Park's Future

The addition of Shoreline Pier represents part of one of the largest periods of investment in the history of Six Flags Great Adventure. According to park officials, the new area is designed to celebrate the sights, sounds, and flavours of the Jersey Shore, offering families a highly immersive environment to enjoy together.

Rides and attractions include:

  • Barrels O’ Fun: A spinning family coaster where riders board wooden barrel-style cars that bob and weave like buoys.
  • Flying Scooters: A boardwalk staple that allows guests to control their own flight path using a moveable sail.
  • Wave Swinger: A soaring swing ride that marks the spiritual return of the Flying Wave (a park favorite from 1974–2007).
  • Hypno Twister: A modern, high-intensity spinner featuring four interlocking arms that create sensations of weightlessness.
  • Super Roundup: A nostalgic homecoming for a Great Adventure classic. After a total overhaul, the ride formerly known as Swashbuckler and Fantasy Fling returns to its original name and a new location on the pier.

During the opening ceremony, Lt. Governor Dr. Dale G. Caldwell highlighted the significance of the new attraction as a key tourism asset for New Jersey, noting the vital role that destinations like Six Flags Great Adventure play in driving regional economic growth and supporting local jobs.

More New Experiences for 2026 and Beyond

The launch of Shoreline Pier coincides with a lineup of new entertainment and enhancements across the resort this season, including:

  • The debut of the Boardwalk Nights evening event
  • The all-new A Great Day Parade
  • Ongoing enhancements across the resort and the continued expansion of the Wild Safari experience

In addition to enjoying the new pier, visitors to the park this season will get a front-row seat to the construction of Project Purple. Rising more than 350 feet above the park skyline, the landmark project is now well on its way to becoming one of the world's tallest roller coasters when it officially opens in 2027.

Shoreline Pier is now officially open to the public and is included with standard park admission.
