Disney has released more details about Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the immersive new attraction opening in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance promises to be one of the most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering.

The attraction is also one of the largest Disney has ever created. Its massive show building houses two full-size AT-AT walkers and a Star Destroyer hangar bay – complete with a TIE fighter and a garrison of Stormtroopers.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will put you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

The first part of the experience will consist of a themed walkthough, as guests are recruited by the Resistance at a rebel military base in the forest, next to the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.

Guests will then depart from Batuu in a transport ship to meet General Leia Organa at a secret rendezvous point. This will be the first ride element. Along the way guests will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer.

The action will then ramp up as guests must to escape the clutches of the First Order, with the help of some heroes of the Resistance. Guests will board trackless ride vehicles with onboard droids.

Later in the adventure, these vehicles will enter a motion simulator for a dramatic flight through space. There is even a drop section.

This highly anticipated new attraction will open on December 5, 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and January 17, 2020 at Disneyland in California.
