SeaWorld San Diego has announced a brand new roller coaster for 2019, Tidal Twister.

The dueling roller coaster will be an exhilarating experience for guests that demonstrates the great power of the ocean. With speeds up to 30 miles per hour, riders will twist and bank as though they are riding the waves along a figure-eight track that includes a Zero-G roll at the center section.

Two trains holding 16 passengers each will load at opposite ends of the figure-eight, and cross in the center. Guests will face forwards and backwards. The roller coaster also features a low height requirement of 48 inches, making it a perfect ride for families with younger guests.

Marilyn Hannes, park president of SeaWorld San Diego:

“There is no other roller coaster experience in the world like Tidal Twister. The two trains duel one another and guests will see the excitement on the faces of other riders. You’ll almost feel like you can reach out and touch them. The tight turns, the inversion, and the airtime hill will leave all our guests wondering which way is up.”

Tidal Twister will be located next to the Aquaria touch pool and aquarium in the northwest section of the theme park. The pre-ride conservation experience will focus on sustainable aquaculture and coral reef protection.

The new roller coaster, which is a Skywarp Horizon model from Skyline Attractions, is due to open in May 2019.
