We visited La Ronde, a Six Flags park in Montreal, Canada. Our first impressions of the park were great with a really attractive entrance.

As with other Six Flags parks, there are no themed areas as such, but many of the rides and attractions, as well as places to eat and shop, are decorated to some extent.

Goliath, with a height of 174.8 feet tall and a speed of 110.1 km/h, is the tallest and fastest roller coaster at La Ronde. We really enjoyed this airtime-packed B&M ride that has an eye-catching red, yellow and blue color scheme. If the DC Comics characters used by Six Flags elsewhere were to be extended to Canada, this would most likely be themed to Superman.

The layout is packed with floater airtime hills, taking you well beyond the park along the edge of the Saint Lawrence River.

The brilliant inverted roller coaster Le Vampire is a mirror of Batman: The Ride, found at many other Six Flags parks. It's the smooth, fast and intense B&M that millions of people have been enjoying at theme parks around the world since the model was first introduced in 1992.

105 feet tall, 2,700 feet long and with a top speed of 80.5 km/h, packing in 5 inversions and a g-force of 4, it's a superb ride.

Le Monstre, at 131 feet high, is the tallest two-track wooden roller coaster in the world, but unfortunately due to only one of the tracks being operational it was not racing, and suffered from extraordinarily long queues.

We enjoyed wonderful views of Montreal on the 148 feet tall Vol Ultime chair swing tower, but given its location one of the taller SkyScreamer models would be ever better.

The viewing tower Spirale was closed, but the observation wheel Grande Roue and Minirail also offer nice views of the park and surrounding areas.

The other roller coasters at La Ronde include Ednör - l'Attaque, a standard Vekoma inverted coaster that has been placed over the park's lake, the wild mouse Toboggan Nordique, and indoor coaster Dragon.

There's a good selection of thrill rides at La Ronde, the best being the impressive gyro swing Titan, as well as Démon and Gravitor.

Pays de Ribambelle is an area created especially for children and offers lots of smaller rides and attractions for them.

A historic gem at the park is the classic carousel Le Galopant that was built in 1885 and has been operating at La Ronde since Expo 67, the Montreal World's Fair in 1967.

Next year the free-fly roller coaster formerly known as Green Lantern: First Flight at Six Flags Magic Mountain will open at La Ronde, renamed Vipère.

La Ronde is a must-visit attraction in the city of Montreal and therefore gets very busy, so our advice with all theme parks is to arrive early and take advantage of little to no queues for the most popular attractions at the start of the day.
