The new Global Attractions and Attendance Report is the fourteenth annual collaboration between the Themed Entertainment Association and AECOM. It identifies the most visited theme parks and water parks around the world, including North America's Top 20 in 2019.
The top 20 theme parks in North America saw 1.2% growth overall, representing 1.9 million new visits for the leading operators and popular chains.
Disney’s visitor numbers were flat overall, with a focus on increasing the spend per person rather than the volume of visitors.
Universal's theme parks were up 2.8%, with most of that growth due to higher visitor numbers at Universal’s Islands of Adventure where Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opened.
The SeaWorld / Busch Gardens group was able to maintain the additional visits secured in 2018, continuing its rebound after a series of challenging years.
Six Flags reported steady growth of 2.5% which represents almost 800,000 new visits, and was helped by the new Maxx Force roller coaster at Six Flags Great America.
Cedar Fair reported the strongest increase among the operators, with growth of 7.8% within its portfolio.
